Janet Buckle
Painter

Hello and welcome to my website which is aimed at giving you a brief insight into my art.

My work is representational and it has always been driven by an interest in shapes, colours and patterns. I use a variety of subject matter; still-life, flowers, interiors and landscapes. I paint in oils on canvas or wood and draw using mixed media.

Over the past fifteen years I have been fascinated by the coal mining landscape including the surface workings of collieries, and I continue to make images of this constantly changing landscape.

I studied painting and printmaking at the Slade School from 1965 to 1969 and since 1980 I have exhibited my work locally and nationally.

My exhibitions include:-

The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Hunting Group, The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and The Discerning Eye.

I have also organised two touring exhibitions of my coal mining images.

My work is in private collections, Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery and The National Coal Mining Museum for England.
